latest painting...

It had been awhile since I've completed a painting;
a long while...

Since I'd never attempted a portrait of a dog before,
I thought it would be fun to photograph the stages.
Even if the photos didn't turn out all that well...
they give a good idea of how I layer paint. :)

And there she is - all finished.
Though technically in my mind, nothing I paint is ever "finished"
there's always something else that could be done.
I like the Leonardo da Vinci quote:
"Art is never finished - only abandoned."
Or something like that...

Incredible Kate! You should be the one to have an art blog!! I really am very impressed...hair is a hard look to achieve.

This is wonderful, Kate! I am a devoted sketcher of our dogs but haven't seriously put brush to them. Well...one of Bebe's profile. I didn't know you were an artist! Please, do post more!

Thank you both! :) To say I'm a slow painter would be a vast understatement... So it might be awhile before you see another one... Sara - you can see the only two other paintings I've completed in the past three years on "My Art" page, right under my blog header - other than that...I don't have much to show! :)

Love it, Kate!

Thank you again so much! You totally nailed her face. I can't imagine the hours you poured into this.

We can't wait to find the perfect place to put it.

You should consider selling some of your paintings on Etsy. You are certainly very talented!

Soo nice!! That last picture of the painting almost really looks like a photo you might have taken of a dog. Thanks for sharing these. I had actually wondered if we would see another painting of yours. I check your "My Art" page every once in a while.
